The members of AFIEDDA Women (Afikpo/Edda Women Development Organization) proudly inaugurated their Local Government Area (LGA) and ward executives on Sunday, July 13, 2025. The significant event was attended by prominent women from both the Edda and Afikpo communities, marking a decisive step in the organization’s mission.
Engr. Dr. Stephanie Chima Ekumankama, the wife of the Executive Chairman of Edda Local Government, highlighted the importance of this milestone, stating, “This inauguration reaffirms our commitment to empowering women and underscores the pivotal role our organization plays in society.”
Key Objectives of AFIEDDA Women:
– Promoting Education:Enhancing access to education for women and the girl-child.
– Agricultural Training: Providing training and retraining for women in agriculture to boost food security.
– Skill Acquisition: Offering workshops on skill acquisition and financial management.
– Peace Promotion: Fostering peace and harmony within and beyond our communities.
– Advocacy: Collaborating on policies and programs that advance the well-being of women in Afikpo and Edda.
– Family Values: Upholding family values and advocating for increased representation of women in governance and other sectors.
The overarching goal of AFIEDDA Women is to facilitate the holistic development of women in both Afikpo and Edda. The newly inaugurated executives were encouraged to embrace the role of servant leaders and were assured that their efforts would yield meaningful rewards.
