
The honourable member representing Afikpo and Edda federal constituency Hon. Iduma Igariwey has staged yet another befitting Iri-Ji celebration cum lecture.

The 5th Okpudo Ikeji Annual Lecture Series, themed “Land Inheritance and Traditional Legal System in Afikpo and Edda,” successfully highlighted the significance of cultural exploration and academic dialogue. The event focused on land inheritance issues, promoting knowledge and the importance of traditional legal frameworks.

Distinguished Professor Eseni Azu Udu from Alex Ekwueme Federal University delivered a compelling address on Afikpo and Edda land inheritance, discussing the communal challenges arising from conflicting oral histories. He emphasized the need to reassess customary laws and criticized the poor documentation of traditional histories contributing to local conflicts.
