The Ebonyi State Government has officially commenced the distribution of fertilizers, rice seedlings, pesticides, and other essential farming inputs to farmers across various Local Government Areas in Ebonyi State.
The distribution event was held in Edda LGA, where the Executive Chairman, Hon. Chima Ekumankama, expressed profound gratitude to His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, for approving this crucial initiative aimed at enhancing agricultural productivity in the region.
At the ceremony, the representative of His Excellency, Princess Nkechinyere Iyioku, who is also the Commissioner for Agriculture and Natural Resources, alongside her team, officially flagged off the distribution. Key officials, including the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, took the opportunity to educate farmers on the effective use of the inputs to maximize yields.
Princess Iyioku emphasized the government’s commitment to ensuring timely delivery of agricultural inputs, reflecting His Excellency’s dedication to agriculture and the people’s welfare, as articulated in his charter of needs.
In his address, Hon. Chima Ekumankama praised the governor for his timely intervention, highlighting that this is the first time such crucial inputs have reached farmers when they are most needed. He assured the governor that the farmers of Edda would always remember this significant gesture.
The event was well attended by notable dignitaries, including Hon. Stephen Orji Igwe, the member representing Edda East in the Ebonyi State House of Assembly, development coordinators from Edda LGA, traditional rulers, the Edda Elders Council, councilors, supervisors, and the chairman’s aides.
This initiative is expected to boost agricultural production, supporting local farmers and contributing to the economic development of Ebonyi State.
