Edda LGA, Ebonyi State – A significant sensitization program was held at Amangwu PHC in Edda Local Government Area to launch the Measles-Rubella Vaccine Introduction, flag off the Baby Shower Intervention, and the End Polio Campaign. This event underscores Ebonyi State’s commitment to enhancing maternal and child healthcare.

The gathering included government officials, healthcare professionals, traditional leaders, and community members, all united in promoting a healthier future for families.
Engr. Dr. Stephanie Chima Ekumankama, Chairperson of Edda LGA, welcomed attendees and expressed gratitude to health workers. She commended Her Excellency for her steadfast dedication to maternal and child health, labeling her presence as a source of inspiration for meaningful health interventions.

Mrs. Comfort Idam, Director of Primary Healthcare Edda LGA, acknowledged the pivotal role of Chief Mrs. Uzoamaka Mary-Maudlin Ogbonna Nwifuru, the Governor’s wife. She highlighted the occasion’s triple significance: introducing the Measles-Rubella vaccine, launching the Baby Shower initiative, and supporting the End Polio Campaign. She emphasized the importance of collaboration with partners like BERWO Foundation.
Local Immunization Officer, Mrs. Ugokama Onuogbu, delivered a health talk, urging pregnant women to attend antenatal care and nursing mothers to utilize routine immunization services. She praised Her Excellency for providing necessary support for the Baby Shower initiative and acknowledged the efforts of all stakeholders involved.

A heartfelt thank you was extended to Chief Mrs. Uzoamaka Mary-Maudlin Ogbonna Nwifuru for her visionary leadership and generosity, which facilitated the Baby Shower’s success.
The event culminated in the flag-off ceremony conducted by a representative of Her Excellency and Engr. Dr. Stephanie Chima-Ekumankama. This launch represents the state’s commitment to maternal and child health and eradicating vaccine-preventable diseases.
During the outreach, 405 women and children received essential health education, maternal items, and immunization services.
